The recently published Court Services annual report for 2012 throws up some interesting statistics.
Personal injury claim compensation cases in the Circuit and High Court reveal that there is a 5% increase on proceedings instigated versus 2011 figures. The stats are =
* Compensation Cases issued – 16,864 (up 5%)
* Injury awards made – 1,860
* Awards made for <€38,000 - 83%
* High Court medical negligence cases - 1,040
The number of judges in Ireland as at the 31st december, 2012 was 146 !!
