You can get more gifts/inheritances and not pay tax !!

After the budget speech on Tuesday 11 October, changes to the Group Thresholds for Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) took effect from midnight on Wednesday 12 October 2016.

The changes are as follows:

• The Group A threshold was increased from €280,000 to €310,000
• The Group B threshold was increased from €30,150 to €32,500
• The Group C threshold was increased from €15,075 to €16,250

These are the current CAT thresholds.
