Bye Bye Auctioneer – Hello Licensed Property Services Provider !! – a legal update from Kilkenny Solicitors Holland Condon

As and from 30th May, 2012, the Property Services Regulatory Authority’s (PSRA) is taking the function of the licensing of Property Services Providers (i.e. Auctioneers/Estate Agents, Letting Agents and Management Agents). It will take over the licensing of Auctioneers/Estate Agents and Letting Agents from the Courts and Revenue Commissioners and also licence, for the first time, Management Agents.

Auctioneers, and those involved in property services need to apply to this Authority to obtain a Licence.

The Authority will take over the licensing of Auctioneers/Estate Agents and Letting Agents and introduce the new licensing regime for Management Agents with effect from the 6th July, 2012.

The Minister for Justice and Equality, by order under the Property Services (Regulation) Act 2011, established the Authority on a statutory basis on 3 April 2012.
