Probate office changes requirement for 2 original CA24s

Jul 25, 2017

The Probate Office have informed the Law Society that as and from 1 August 2017, it will no longer be necessary to lodge two original CA24s when a solicitor/personal applicant is lodging an application for a Grant of Representation in the estate of a deceased person.

Instead, it will be acceptable to lodge one original CA24, together with a copy of the CA24 and a certificate thereon confirming that the copy is a true and accurate copy of the original CA24 being presented with the application for the Grant.

The certificate must contain:

  • The name and address of the deceased person
  • The name, address, phone number and signature of the solicitor who has carriage of the application.

However, should two original CA24s be presented with the application, it will be accepted by the Probate Office/District Probate Registries. It is the intention of us here in Holland Condon Solicitors to continue lodging 2 originals.
