Interest to be paid on court orders for debts

From 1 January 2017, the rate of interest that will apply to judgment debts under section 26 of the Debtors (Ireland) Act, 1840 is reduced to 2%.

The former rate of 8% had applied since 1989. This change has been introduced by S.I. No. 624 of 2016, Courts Act 1981 (Interest on Judgment Debts) Order 2016
